Seizures occur when there is misfiring of brain cells that may cause outward changes in behavior, abnormal movements and loss of consciousness. A diagnosis of epilepsy may be made in situations where an individual has more than one unprovoked seizure.
We evaluate and treat a variety of conditions under this category including febrile seizures, new-onset seizures and epilepsy.
The assessment of an individual with seizures may require an extensive work-up that may include getting an EEG, brain MRI scan and laboratory studies. Testing is determined on a case-by-case basis.
